Nestled in a mountainous valley on the Amalfi Coast of Italy, the small picturesque town of Atrani is a gem hiding in the shadow of its far larger and more popular neighbor, Amalfi. Amalfi may have fancier restaurants and shopping, but Atrani is where you can experience a more authentic history, character and beauty. What makes Atrani so remarkable is its architecture, with ancient dwellings rising higher and higher from the sea below; each interconnected by soaring flights of stairs and mysterious passageways. Everything looks and feels like it was molded by hand long ago out of wet sand, rock and clay. It’s a remarkable place I would gladly return to again.
