I had the opportunity to visit Copenhagen while speaking at the 2016 Design Matters conference. I added a couple of days to my trip, rented a bike, and rode all around the city. Riding a bike here is a completely different experience than the United States, for here cycling is anything but a recreational activity. They’re how half the population commutes, so you have to get accustomed to riding in tight herds and use hand signals for everything (especially stopping). While here I visited the autonomous community of Freetown Christiania and dined at the (now closed) Paper Island.
